History of Opera Studio

Opera studio provides practical experience for the next generations, preparation and staging of the performances in the studio. We have invited Zaza Azmaipharashvili, Principal Conductor and Art Director of Tbilisi State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, Prof. Avtandil Mamatsashvili, Prof. Medea Amiranashvili, Prof. Tengiz Mushkudiani and others. It is significant that the soloists of the Opera Studio are invited to the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre as the leading soloists.
List of events since the theatre was established:
June 22nd, 2001, Concert Hall of Zakaria Paliashvili Batumi State Conservatory, concert of Opera Studio soloists accompanied by the symphony orchestra, scenes from the operas of Georgian, Russian, and European composers.
December 9th, 2001, Ilia Chavchavadze State Drama Theatre, the first accredited concert of the Opera Studio soloists accompanied by the symphony orchestra.
April 2001, Concert Hall of Zakaria Paliashvili Batumi State Conservatory, premier of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera La Traviata (concert performance).
December 29th, 2003, Concert Hall of Zakaria Paliashvili Batumi State Conservatory, accredited concert of the Opera Studio soloists accompanied by the symphony orchestra.
April 29th, 2004, Concert Hall of Zakaria Paliashvili Batumi State Conservatory, concert performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera La Traviata.
November 27-28th, December 22nd, 2004, Concert Hall of Zakaria Paliashvili Batumi State Conservatory, premier of Pietro Mascagni’s opera Cavalleria Rusticana – conductor Avtandil Mamatsashvili (concert performance).
In 2004 Agreement of Cooperation was signed between the Opera Studio and Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet Theatre.
June 9th, 2005, Concert Hall of Zakaria Paliashvili Batumi State Conservatory, concert performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera La Traviata in memory of Zurab Anjaparidze.
November 20-22nd, 2005, Ilia Chavchavadze State Drama Theatre, concert performance of Pietro Mascagni’s opera Cavalleria Rusticana – conductor Avtandil Mamatsashvili, Zaza Azmaipharashvili.
January 27th, 2006, Ilia Chavchavadze State Drama Theatre, concert of Zurab Anjaparidze Batumi Opera Studio dedicated to the religious holiday of Saint Nino’s Day with the blessing of Batumi and Skhalta Pontiff, Bishop Dimitri.
August 26, 28, 29, 30th, 2006, Ilia Chavchavadze State Drama Theatre, premier of Zakaria Paliashvili’s opera Daisi (new interpretation).

Since 2007, the Opera Studio has merged with Batumi State Musical Center and the agreement has been renewed.
In 2007, Batumi State Musical Center soloists Nona Koripadze and Tea Gelovani became intern-soloists in Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet Theatre.
In 2007, Sulkhan Jaiani a soloist of State Musical Center Opera Studio participated in the competition which was held in Vano Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatory and won the award.

October 20th, 2009, Zaza Khamatashvili, a soloist of the Batumi State Musical Center’s Opera Studio, was invited by Kutaisi Opera Theatre to perform the part of Germont in Giuseppe Verdi’s opera La Traviata.
November 16th, 2009, Concert Hall of Zakaria Paliashvili Batumi State Conservatory, concert performance of Gaetano Donizetti’s opera Lucia di Lammermoor, participants: soloists, symphony orchestra, and choir of Batumi State Musical Center Opera Studio.
December 17th, 2009, Tbilisi Philharmonic Concert Hall, Irakli Kakhidze, a soloist of Batumi State Musical Center’s Opera Studio, was invited to the presentation of Lado Ataneli’s Charity Fund.

March 5th, 2010, Sulkhan Jaiani, a soloist of the Batumi State Musical Center Opera Studio participated and became a prize winner in the contest of vocalists organized by Lado Ataneli’s charity fund “Tanadgoma”.
March 27th, 2010, Tbilisi Philharmonic Concert Hall, Batumi State Musical Center’s Opera Studio’s soloists Sulkhan Jaiani and Irakli Kakhidze were invited to the evening of Lado Anateli’s Charity Fund Tanadgoma.
May 15-16th, 2010, Turkey, Batumi State Musical Center’s Opera Studio’s soloists Sulkhan Jaiani and Tea Gelovani participated and became prize winners of Leyla Gencer’s International Voice Competition.
June 16th, 2010, Concert Hall of Zakaria Paliashvili Batumi State Conservatory, concert performance of Zakaria Paliashvili’s opera Daisi, participants: soloists, symphony orchestra, and choir of Batumi State Musical Center Opera Studio.
July 5-20th, 2010, Tea Gelovani and Sulkhan Jaiani were offered an internship at La Scala Academy, where they recived the respective diplomas.
July 21st, 2010, soloists of the Batumi State Musical Center Opera Studio Inga Jakhutashvili, Nona Koripadze, Eter Khalvashi, Irma Zhghenti were invited to the audition held by foreign impresarios in Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet Theatre. A soloist Inga Jakhutashvili participated in the master class organized by Alla Simonishvili.
October 16th, 2010, soloists of Batumi State Musical Center Opera Studio Inga Jakhutashvili (Lola’s part) and Irakli Kakhidze (Turiddu’s part) were invited to sing in Pietro Mascagni’s opera Cavalleria Rusticana, conductor: Gianluca Marciano.
November 3rd, 2010, soloists of the Batumi State Musical Center Opera Studio Inga Jakhutashvili was invited to participate in the concert held in Tbilisi State Ballet and Opera Theatre, conductor: Viacheslav Bortnovsky.
March 4th, 2011, Ilia Chavchavadze Batumi State Drama Theatre, concert performance of Zakaria Paliashvili’s opera Daisi, participants: soloists, symphony orchestra, and choir of Batumi State Musical Center Opera Studio.
March 28th, 2011, Ilia Chavchavadze Batumi State Drama Theatre, solo concert of Irakli Kakhidze, a soloist of the Batumi State Musical Center Opera Studio.
April 1-18, 2011, Lia Jashi a soloist of the Batumi State Musical Center Opera Studio was invited to casting in Milan, where she performed Violetta’s part in Giuseppe Verdi’s opera La Traviata.
April 16th, 2011, soloists of the Batumi State Musical Center Opera Studio Irakli Kakhidze, Irma Zhghenti, Nona Koripadze, and Eter Khalvashi participated in the first round of II international vocalist contest qualification round organized by Lado Ataneli’s Charity Fund Tanadgoma.
April 20th, 2011, Lado Ataneli’s Charity Fund Tanadgoma - the finalist and the prize-winner Irakli Kakhidze, a soloist of the Batumi State Musical Center Opera Studio; and Nona Koripadze and Eter Khalvashi – diploma holder and a winner, respectively.
April 27th, 2011, Lado Ataneli’s International Charity Fund Tanadgoma – the concert in honor of winners. Participants: Irakli Kakhidze, Nona Koripadze and Eter Khalvashi - soloists of the Batumi State Musical Center Opera Studio, conducted by a famous Italian conductor Gianluca Marciano.
June 2nd, 2011, Batumi Ilia Chavchavadze State Dramatic Theatre hosted the VI International Festival From Resurrection to Ascension. The participants of the final concert were Zaza Khamatashvili, Irakli Kakhidze, Nona Koripadze, Lia Jashi, Inga Jakhutashvili, Mikheil Gasparian, Imedo Mamaladze, and Irma Zhghenti - soloists of the Batumi State Musical Center Opera Studio.
August 14-22th, 2011, Art Centre of Batumi State Musical Center, Viktor Dolidze’s opera Keto and Kote with the participation of Batumi State Art Center Chapel and Sulkhan Jaiani (the role of Makar), a soloist of the Opera Studio.
October 8th, 2011, Batumi Art Center hosted a classical music concert held to celebrate Teachers’ Day with the participation of the Batumi State Musical Centre symphony orchestra, chapel and soloists of the opera studio.
November 1st, 2011, Grand Concert Hall of Zakaria Paliashvili Musical School hosted the concert dedicated to 100 years anniversary of a famous singer Davit Gamrekeli, with the participation of soloists of the Batumi State Musical Center Opera Studio: Inga Jakhutashvili, Zaza Khamatashvili, Thea Gelovani, Eter Khalvashi, Lia Jashi, Nona Koripadze, Otar Nakashidze, Imeda Mamaladze,
November 4th, 2011, a classical music concert was held Grand Concert Hall of Zakaria Paliashvili Musical School, performed by soloists of the Batumi State Musical Center Opera Studio Inga Jakhutashvili, Sulkhan Jaiani, and the symphonic orchestra, conducted by Eminguven Iashligam.
On July 6th, 2012, Batumi Art Center hosted Pietro Mascagni’s opera Cavalleria Rusticana.

November 5–9th, 2012, Yerevan the capital of Armenia hosted the International Festival-concurs You are our Pride held as a charity concert by the Society of Cultural Relations and Cooperation Armenia-Georgia, performed by the soloist of the Batumi State Musical Center Opera Studio Inga Jakhutashvili who became a grand prize winner (Nino Chkhaidze - the concertmeister).
December 5-8th, 2012, a soloist of the Batumi State Musical Center Opera Studio center Inga Jakhutashvili was enrolled in academy of Ancona, Italy.
On December 15 2012 Mascagni’s Opera Cavaleria Rusticana was performed in Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli State Theatre by the soloist, symphony orchestra, and chapel of the Batumi State Musical Center Opera.
